Crisis in Jordan: The position of the eastern front in the cause of Palestine?

Jordan is at the heart of Middle East equations and the center of regional and international crises. This Arab country is walking on a tightrope between maintaining neighborly relations, promoting national interests, and curbing threats. The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) carried out the Al-Aqsa storm operation to prevent the marginalization of the Palestinian cause in public opinion and inflicted a major intelligence defeat on the Zionist regime.

The crime of the Zionists in Gaza and the deterioration of the situation in the West Bank have made Jordan face important political and security challenges in creating a balance between different actors. The martyrdom-seeking operation of a Jordanian citizen named Maher Dhiab Hossein Al-Jazi against the Zionist regime and the death of three Zionist settlers at the al-Karamah crossing or the King Hussein Bridge on the border between the West Bank and Jordan have shown the anger and hatred of Jordanian citizens towards the crimes of the Zionists. This issue has influenced the internal calculations of Jordanian officials and the level of their political relations with Netanyahu’s government.

Geopolitics of Jordan

Jordan is located at the meeting place of Christians, Muslims, and Jews in the Holy Land and its borders are defined according to the Sykes-Picot agreement. Being among the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf and having a long border with the occupied territories has doubled the geopolitical importance of this country. Geopolitical crises such as the Palestinian issue, the conflict between the Arabs and the Zionist regime, the Syrian crisis, etc. have had direct and indirect effects on the security, interests, and internal stability of Jordan. Historically, the geographical conditions have given Jordan the possibility to play a role in regional equations and sometimes impose its demands on others despite its small area limited capabilities, and poverty of resources.

Due to its location on the eastern front, this country is one of the most important breathing routes of Palestine and the West Bank, for this reason, the Zionist regime always has special sensitivities towards the developments and movements of this region. The presence of a large number of Palestinian refugees and citizens of Palestinian origin, who make up more than half of the population of this country, and the role of the rulers of this country as the guardian of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, has led to the fact that attention to the West Bank and the need to maintain stability in the Palestinian territories, not It is a choice, but a necessity in the foreign policy of this country.
