Crisis in the British Army

PNN – The Telegraph newspaper wrote: British soldiers are leaving the military at an “alarming rate” despite a record pay rise this summer.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Telegraph added: For the first time in the history of England, there are two male or female soldiers for every thousand people in this country.

About 15,119 armed forces have left the British Army in the year to October. Of these, 7,778 people voluntarily left the army. In the same period of time, the British army only recruited more than 12,000 troops, which has reduced the army’s forces.

British soldiers are leaving the army as the government tries to stem a recruitment crisis with a 6% pay rise.

Britain’s Ministry of Defense announced its biggest pay rise in 22 years in July in a bid to retain troops, but new figures suggest the increase may not be enough. Despite this increase in the salaries of the military forces, they have the worst situation compared to other public sector employees in the UK.

Salaries of the military in England have increased by only 1.9% since 2011, while the increase for new doctors was 13.39% and for train drivers 10.14%.

Social services in England, which had a significant reduction during the period of former Prime Minister David Cameron, are now for the first time four times the size of the armed forces.

The Telegraph assessed the British Army’s attempt to increase the pay of soldiers in order to strengthen its military as a step towards equipping itself at the same time as conflicts increase around the world and wrote: It is expected that the future American administration headed by Donald Trump will ask its European allies in NATO to increase their defense spending. He wants to allocate 5% of the gross product of NATO countries for the defense budget. Currently, NATO members spend only 2% of their GDP on defense budget. This is while only 23% of the 32 NATO member countries have borne this cost.

The spokesperson of the British Ministry of Defense claimed that his government has inherited the recruitment crisis in the army and that the targets have been ignored every year for the past 14 years.

He said: The government will take decisive measures to prevent this long-term process of reducing army forces.
