Death of children under 5 years old in Gaza due to famine and hunger

PNN – The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip pointed out that several children under the age of five have died due to hunger in the Gaza Strip in the past two months and announced that the occupying regime has placed Gaza in the triangle of death.

According to the International group of Pakistan News Network, The Palestinian Ministry of Health issued a statement referring to the spread of famine and hunger throughout the Gaza Strip and announced that the occupying regime has placed the people of Gaza in the triangle of death through aggression, hunger and disease.

The ministry added: Continued aggression against Gaza means more genocide against the Palestinian people, and this is what the occupiers and their supporters want. Half a million people in the north of Gaza are suffering from famine and hunger, and hunger is silently killing these people, and they are suffering greatly from improper nutrition and dehydration and a severe lack of medical facilities.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, about one million people under the age of 18 live in the Gaza Strip, almost all of whom are at risk of acute malnutrition; Especially after the reduction of humanitarian aid in recent weeks and the cutting off of aid to northern Gaza.

Sources affiliated with the Gaza Ministry of Health reported that in the past two months, 8 children under the age of 5 died in the Gaza Strip due to malnutrition during the war. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) also announced that the situation in Gaza is very dangerous for children and the conditions that the people of Gaza have been experiencing since the beginning of the war are unprecedented in the whole world.

Relevant sources also warned about the critical conditions of children in Gaza and announced that the Gaza Strip is witnessing a severe lack of food for children and in this situation where mothers do not have the strength to breastfeed their babies as a result of malnutrition, powdered milk is also extremely scarce and this crisis is not only related to the north and the whole of Gaza suffers from this disaster.

In this situation, families are forced to resort to inappropriate alternatives for babies instead of powdered milk, such as grinding rice or wheat and giving them to children. In some cases, families even have to use a mixture of ground fodder with water to feed children, which harms them greatly.

“Ihab Abu Karsh”, a resident of Gaza who has 3 children aged 8, 3 years and 8 months, says that we cannot find food to eat and we have to use unsuitable food such as fodder to feed ourselves. My children did not eat these foods at first, but later they were forced to eat everything we put in front of them due to extreme hunger. I can’t get milk for them and my children haven’t had milk for several months and even my 8-month-old baby doesn’t get enough milk; because his mother cannot give him enough milk due to maltreatment.

Nearly 5 months have passed since the Zionist regime’s genocidal war against Gaza, UN agencies have announced that clean water and food are extremely scarce in the besieged Gaza Strip, and almost all young children are suffering from infectious diseases.

According to the UN report, some people in Gaza have resorted to eating fodder and hunger has spread throughout the region. Also, clean and potable water is not found at all, and people find only one and a half or two liters of non-potable water per day to meet their daily needs.

A few days ago, Dr. Hossam Abusafia, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the north of the Gaza Strip, reported that during the past days, a large number of children in the north of the Gaza Strip died due to malnutrition, lack of food, and diseases and epidemics caused by the enemy’s continuous aggression and siege against this area.
