Democrats have lost their former position among African Americans

PNN – Referring to the decrease in the number of black voters supporting the Democrats, the “New York Times” emphasized: The most important factor behind the separation of African Americans from this party is the failure to fulfill the electoral promises of “Joe Biden” in his four-year presidency towards this racial group.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from this American media, although Kamala Harris, the vice president of the United States, managed to bring many disaffected groups back to the party’s camp in the short term of his candidacy for the Democrats, it seems that there is still a long way to go to complete this path.

This report added: Harris has been able to increase the position of his party among black voters. But according to a joint survey of likely black voters by the New York Times and Sinai College, he has yet to reach the number of blacks who voted for Joe Biden, the president of the United States in 2020.

The poll found that nearly eight in 10 black voters nationwide said they would vote for Ms. Harris. However, this is a significant increase from the 74 percent of black voters who said they would support Biden before he dropped out of the race in July. However, in 2020, Biden was able to win the election by a small margin with the participation of 90% of black voters. At the same time, the difference between Harris and Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, in getting the votes of black people is so great that it can jeopardize his chances to win in important decisive states.

The New York Times wrote: Trump’s campaign has relied on targeted ads and sporadic campaign events to appeal to African-American voters — especially black men — and has seen a surge in support from the group. About 15 percent of likely black voters said they plan to vote for the former president, up 6 percent from four years ago, according to a new poll.

According to the results of the poll, the main reason for the decline in black support for Harris is the growing belief that Democrats, who have long referred to black voters as the “backbone” of their party, have failed to fulfill their promises to this group.

Part of this report states: Black voters are divided on specific issues. 56% of them believe that the United States should pay less attention to problems abroad and focus more on problems at home, a position that is more in line with Trump’s views. Also, 40 percent of black voters support Trump’s border wall plan and 41 percent support deporting illegal immigrants, something Trump has said he will do en masse. Also, 47 percent of African-American voters, who are a significant demographic, believe that crime in big cities is out of control, and this shows that they are on the same side as Trump. Trump, who campaigned on increasingly nativist rhetoric and scare tactics, often paints a false picture of rampant crime in American cities and blames illegal immigrants.

Americans will go to the polls on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 to elect the next president of their country. The winner of this election will start the four-year presidential term from January 2025.
