Democrats supporting Harris are angry at Biden’s trashing of Trump supporters

PNN – After the remarks of the then President of the United States, Joe Biden, who called the supporters of the former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, “garbage” and started a wave of political criticism, the headquarters of Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party candidate for the presidential election of November 5, 2024, quickly tried to distanced herself from these statements or justified them.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, however, many Democrats in Harris headquarters and outside of it expressed dissatisfaction and anger with these statements of Biden.

Citing informed sources, CNN news reported that Harris’s senior staff had released messages of outrage from supporters, with some of them suggesting that the president should stay out of the public eye completely for the last six days leading up to Election Day.

A former Biden administration official said: Biden’s gaffe yesterday is very upsetting. No one wants him.

That sentiment was privately expressed by some members of Harris’ staff, even as they publicly sought to downplay or clarify Biden’s comments.

Biden’s comments, no doubt an unwanted distraction, were quickly seized upon by Trump and his allies, accusing Harris and his staff of looking down on Americans who support the former president.

Democrats have argued forcefully that Biden is not the presidential candidate, and Harris has made it clear that he respects all voters, whether they support him or not. They have also criticized this double standard, given Trump’s long history of racist, misogynistic and offensive remarks.

There has been growing concern among Harris campaign aides about Biden’s repeated missteps, and Biden’s calling of Trump supporters “trash” confirmed concerns for many Democrats.

Trump’s comments follow Biden’s remarks on Tuesday, when he apparently called the former president’s supporters “garbage.”

In response to the statements made at Trump’s rally in Madison Square Garden, Biden said: A few days ago a speaker at a Trump rally called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage”, but I don’t know anything like that, they are good, decent and honorable people.

Harris has tried to distance herself from Biden’s comments, telling reporters on Wednesday that she was “vehemently” opposed to criticizing people for their nominee.

In a video call with the non-profit organization VotoLatino, Joe Biden addressed the controversy caused by the comedian’s prank at Trump’s campaign rally in New York. Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage” in the crowd of tens of thousands of Trump supporters. Biden said: The only garbage floating there are his supporters.

However, the White House issued a statement saying that Biden meant Trump’s rhetoric and not his supporters.

Trump, who learned about Biden’s words during an election rally in Pennsylvania, called it “terrible” and asked his supporters to forgive Biden.

Trump said: “Please forgive him. He doesn’t know what to say.”

Puerto Rico is an island in the Caribbean Sea that belongs to the United States and its residents do not have the right to vote in American elections. However, 6 million Puerto Rican immigrants living in the United States are eligible to vote.

In an implied criticism of the said joke, Trump told Fox News earlier: I don’t want anyone to make ugly or stupid jokes. Maybe it would have been better if he (Tony Hinchcliffe) wasn’t there.
