Democrats worry about the weakening of Joe Biden’s position among young Americans

PNN – After the release of a new poll that showed the level of support of US President Joe Biden among voters under 30 years old is almost the same as that of former President Donald Trump, Democrats are raising concerns that Biden’s standing among young people has been compromised.

According to Pakistan News Network from the Hill website, a joint survey by the American publication “New York Times” and “Sinai College” showed that the level of support for Joe Biden among voters under 30 years old is almost equal to that of Donald Trump, with 30% supporting Biden and 29% supporting Trump. This is while 34 percent said they support the independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

However, an Emerson College poll released last month found that 45 percent of voters under the age of 30 supported Trump and 43 percent supported Biden.

Given Biden’s victory over Trump among young voters in the 2020 election, the latest data is surprising. According to AP VoteCast, Biden won 61 percent of the 18- to 29-year-old vote in the 2020 election.

According to this report, Democrats believe that the statistics obtained in recent polls show the weakening of Biden’s position among young people.

This survey was conducted while Biden has faced a strong reaction from American youth due to his actions in the war between the Zionist regime and Hamas.

According to the report, several progressive groups, including March for Our Lives and GenZ for Change, wrote to Biden earlier this week warning that his handling of the Israel-Hamas war could reduce the turnout of Millennials (born 1980-1994) and Generation Z (born 1995-2010) next year.

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, a member of the House of Representatives, said in this regard: The most important concern for everyone is the situation of the Palestinians and the human rights of the Israelis, as well as security in the region. Therefore, although I try not to look at it from an electoral point of view, it is definitely an issue that should be paid attention to in the Democratic coalition.

Jon Reinish, a Democratic analyst, said: “I think Biden has taken a big hit from young voters.” But I predict that young voters will ultimately choose Biden over Trump again.

With a year left until the election, some other Democrats are also worried about Biden’s age, as if his age is the most important issue in the 2024 election.
