Details of Al-Sharaa’s negotiations with the US representative in Türkiye

PNN – The Syrian presidential office issued a statement detailing the meeting between the head of the country’s interim government, Ahmed al-Sharaa, and the US representative in Türkiye.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Syrian presidential office issued a statement announcing that the meeting of “Ahmed al-Sharaa”, the head of the interim Syrian government, and his Foreign Minister, Asaad al-Shaibani, met with Thomas Barrack, the US ambassador to Türkiye and the country’s special representative for Syrian affairs.

The statement from the Syrian presidential office said: The meeting took place as part of efforts to rebuild strategic relations with Washington, and the most important issues discussed by the parties were pursuing the implementation of the lifting of US sanctions against Syria.

The statement said that the head of the Syrian interim government emphasized during the meeting that sanctions continue to impose a heavy burden on the Syrian people and hinder efforts for economic recovery.

Ahmed al-Sharaa opposed any attempt to divide the Syrian state and emphasized the government’s commitment to its unity and territorial sovereignty.

In this meeting, the two sides emphasized the need to implement a comprehensive agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces that guarantees the return of government sovereignty.

The US envoy to Syria also announced that Damascus has agreed to help Washington find American citizens or remains and return them.

Ahmed Al-Sharaa met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan yesterday during his visit to Turkey. After this meeting, he also met with Thomas Barrack, the US Ambassador to Turkey and the country’s special representative for Syria.

Donald Trump’s special envoy to Syria announced that he met with Ahmed al-Sharaa and praised some of his actions.

Thomas Barak, in a statement, said the two met in Istanbul today and he praised al-Sharaa for his “meaningful actions” on foreign fighters as well as “relations with Israel.”
