PNN – A prominent source in the Palestinian resistance said that direct negotiations between the US and Hamas began last February, with the presence of Trump’s envoy for prisoner affairs and several prominent Hamas figures. According to the report of Pakistan News Network, while the Hamas movement had announced over the past few days that it was negotiating directly with the US government and had reached an agreement to release Aidan Alexander, a dual American-Israeli military prisoner, one of the prominent leaders of the Palestinian resistance revealed the details of these negotiations in a speech last night.
The resistance leader, whose name has not been revealed, stated in an interview with Al-Mayadeen: Direct negotiations between Hamas and the US government began last February between Adam Buehler, US President Donald Trump’s envoy for prisoner issues, and several figures close to Hamas. The talks were sponsored by Bashar al-Masri, a Palestinian businessman and friend of Buehler.

He added: At that time, the negotiations focused on Hamas’s approach and vision, and how to convince the movement to release Eidan Alexander, a dual American-Israeli prisoner, as well as Hamas’s view on Washington’s role and its vision for ending the war in the Gaza Strip.
According to the source, after these negotiations, a meeting was arranged between Buhler and Hamas leaders, including Osama Hamdan, Taher al-Nunu, and Bassem Naim. This was followed by another meeting between Buhler and Khalil al-Hayyah, the head of the Palestinian negotiating team, in the presence of Bashar al-Masri.
The Palestinian leader emphasized: Washington demanded the release of Aidan Alexander in exchange for pressuring the Zionist regime to stop the war, but Hamas insisted on the release of 250 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for this dual American-Israeli prisoner. According to the Palestinian leader, Qatar and Egypt, acting as mediators, encouraged Hamas to accept the US offer, and in return, Washington pledged to play an active role in ending the war.
