Developments in Gaza; Russia and China hope to change the game to the detriment of the United States

PNN – In a report, the French news agency pointed out that the US was entering the playing field against China and Russia in various issues, and wrote that with the war between Hamas and Israel, Moscow and Beijing hope to change the game to the detriment of Washington.

According to Pakistan News Network, in the report of this French media today: Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the US has sought to isolate Russia and pressure China to distance itself from Moscow, with the war in the Middle East, Russia and China are looking to change the situation.

The United States has introduced Russia as a disturber of international order in the United Nations Security Council, and US President Joe Biden has promised the United Nations that Washington will use its veto power in a limited manner. But America went further and vetoed a draft resolution that did not adequately defend its Zionist ally.

Russia says that the United States has intensified the conflict through Israel’s military reinforcement, while China has criticized the veto of the draft resolution by the United States and the actions of the Zionist regime.

Leslie Winjamory, director of the US program at Chatham House, told AFP: “This is not an area where Washington wants to have a heavy footprint and be actively involved.” At the same time, Biden is deeply committed to Israel.

He said: China is fully willing to pull the strategic focus of America to a region that it did not want to be attracted to, but now it is doing it willingly.

Haniyeh: The continuation of attacks against Gaza will make the entire region out of control.

Eugene Romer, director of the Russia and Eurasia program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said: “Nobody expects Russia to get a result here; any kind of ceasefire or any role in trying to negotiate for the release of prisoners.

Romer continued: “Since 2022, everything revolved around Ukraine, so this disaster was a gift for Putin because all of a sudden attention was diverted from Russia.”

In the meantime, China has sent a representative to the Middle East region who has emphasized on supporting the cause of Palestine.

Jonathan Fulton, an Atlantic Council expert on China’s role in the Middle East, told AFP that Beijing sees the crisis as an “opportunity to score points with the United States” in its message.

China, he said, is likely hoping in turn to gain support from the Arab and Islamic world for its priorities, such as sidelining the Taiwan issue. Beijing’s greatest interest in the Middle East is still economic, as the world’s second largest economy is heavily dependent on imported oil.

With its limited security and diplomatic resources in the Middle East, China has a mutual interest in keeping the US focused on the crisis.

This China expert continued: It is obvious that for China, it is better for the United States to be caught in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf. But if Washington continues to provide the security architecture that preserves the Middle East, Beijing won’t have to do what requires a lot of effort, resources, and attention alone.
