Doctors Without Borders: Gazans deliberately starved.
In a statement, Doctors Without Borders said, “What is happening in the Gaza Strip today is a deliberate act by the Zionist regime to starve the people.”
The organization stressed that the Israeli authorities must immediately allow the massive entry of food and humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
Doctors Without Borders also warned that patients and health workers in Gaza are now in a situation where they are struggling to survive.
According to the report, since May 18 (28 Ordibehesht 1404), the number of patients seeking treatment for malnutrition at the organization’s centers in Gaza has quadrupled. In addition, in the last two weeks, the rate of acute malnutrition among children under five in the Gaza Strip has tripled, a statistic that indicates the severe deterioration of the humanitarian situation in this war-torn region.
MSF has further called on the international community to put the necessary pressure on the Zionist regime to immediately lift the siege and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
During the Zionist regime’s aggressive war against the oppressed people of Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023 (15 Mehr 1402) and continues to this day, the regime has repeatedly committed systematic crimes against civilians. One of the most prominent aspects of these crimes has been the deliberate attacks on residential centers, schools, hospitals, refugee camps, and, most recently, so-called humanitarian aid distribution centers under the supervision of the US and the Israeli regime.
In recent months, the Zionist regime, using the “humanitarian aid mechanism” designed by the US and with the participation of Tel Aviv, has directed Palestinians in need to specific locations in the Gaza Strip and then launched shelling and bombing around these centers. In several documented cases, dozens of Palestinians have been directly targeted by snipers or drone strikes while waiting to receive food and medical aid. Human rights organizations have described the action as a “death trap.”
In addition, as the famine spreads and the infrastructure of life in Gaza collapses, the Israeli army has made a regular practice of attacking aid convoys and confiscating or destroying them. According to reports from aid organizations such as the United Nations and the Red Cross, the Zionist regime has not only blocked the entry of aid but has also, in several cases, deliberately dragged starving civilians into areas under military control and then targeted them.
The Zionist regime’s systematic policy of using starvation, siege, and attacks on aid workers, along with the continuous bombing of civilian centers, is part of what international human rights organizations have described as clear signs of “gradual genocide.” Despite abundant documentation and evidence, these crimes have so far continued with the clear political and military support of the United States and continue to face the inaction of the international community.
According to IRNA, as the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip continues to escalate, local and international organizations have warned of the gradual death of children and infants due to hunger and severe malnutrition.
The head of the NGO network in Gaza previously told the media, “Every moment that passes for malnourished children increases their risk of death. Real and effective pressure must be immediately exerted by the international community on the occupying regime to allow vital aid to enter.”
Mohammed Abu Salmiya, director of the Shifa Hospital in Gaza, announced on Friday a worrying increase in the number of children dying from hunger, announcing that so far 84 children have lost their lives trying to find a bite of bread, and this number is still rising.
