Egyptian expert: No one can disarm Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

Ibrahim Al-Darawi stated in an interview with the Russian Today network: “Hezbollah is a legitimate Lebanese group that participates in elections and cannot be considered simply an armed group.”

He added: “Hezbollah has played a key role in protecting Lebanon’s borders for years, especially in the 2006 war.”

Referring to recent discussions about Hezbollah’s disarmament, the expert on Palestinian and Zionist affairs said, “No one can disarm Hezbollah. The only way is to integrate Hezbollah’s weapons into the structure of the Lebanese government.”

He added: “Cairo has also made efforts in this regard, and we saw that Hassan Mahmoud Rashad, the head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service, recently took a position on this issue, and the Egyptian Foreign Minister has been present in Lebanon, which indicates Arab coordination on this issue.”

Al-Darawi continued: “Israel claims today that it can confront Hezbollah, but the reality is that Israel itself is the largest holder of militant groups and armed terrorist organizations in the world.”

He added: “It is enough to look at the history of the occupation of Palestine by Israel in 1948 to see how Israeli armed and militant groups operated in the region and were considered a threat to the Arab and Islamic world, especially neighboring countries.”

The Egyptian expert concluded by emphasizing that the Arab countries’ view of Hezbollah and other resistance groups is different from Israel’s and should not be associated with the Israeli narrative in this regard.

Earlier, the Egyptian Foreign Minister said on Wednesday that his country is trying to reduce tensions between Hezbollah and the Israeli regime.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati said after meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in Beirut: “We are concerned about any escalation of tensions and the security and stability of Lebanon.”

He added: “We are trying hard to keep Lebanon away from any danger or any aggressive tendency against our security and safety.

After the signing of the Declaration of Cessation of Hostilities on November 27, 2024, between Lebanon and the Zionist regime, the United States of America immediately began extensive movements to disarm Hezbollah in Lebanon. These actions were taken while Tel Aviv repeatedly violated the ceasefire from the very first days and resumed air and artillery attacks on southern Lebanon.

Using its influence in financial and diplomatic institutions, Washington tried to pressure Beirut to implement the clauses of the agreement, which are interpreted as an “arms monopoly.” This pressure was applied through such channels as threatening to cut off economic aid, sanctioning financial institutions linked to Hezbollah, and placing conditions on international cooperation with the Lebanese government.

At the political level, the United States also tried to raise the issue of Hezbollah’s disarmament as a precondition for consolidating the ceasefire and rebuilding the southern regions; while at the same time, the regime By continuing its aggression and violations of Lebanese air and land space, the Zionist regime has effectively destroyed the spirit of the agreement.

Lebanese and regional analysts believe that these pressures are part of a broader plan to weaken the axis of resistance and change the balance of deterrence on the northern borders of occupied Palestine. According to them, as long as the Zionist regime continues to violate the ceasefire, any discussion of disarming Hezbollah is not only unrealistic but also contrary to Lebanon’s natural right to self-defense.
