Egyptian Foreign Minister: Cairo’s position is in full support of Syria and its sovereignty.
According to Sputnik, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati spoke by phone with his Syrian counterpart Bassam Sabbagh.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed to his Syrian counterpart that Cairo’s position is consistent and supports the Syrian government, its sovereignty, and the unity and integrity of its territory.
The Egyptian and Syrian foreign ministers also discussed ways for the Arab world to support Damascus in light of recent developments, especially at the level of the Arab League.
It is worth noting that terrorist groups in northwest Syria have been attacking Syrian army positions on the fronts of the western suburbs of Aleppo since Wednesday morning under the guise of a “prevention of aggression” campaign.
This military operation by terrorists against Syrian army positions violated the ceasefire agreement signed in 2020, as this area is covered by the “de-escalation” agreement, which was signed with the guarantees of Turkey in Astana and includes areas in Idlib, the suburbs of Aleppo, and parts of Hama and Latakia.
The attack by terrorist groups against Syrian army positions coincided with Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon and his direct threat against Syria.
