Egyptian official: Palestinians reject foreign governance in Gaza.

According to Russia Today, in a television interview about the Donald Trump administration’s proposed plan for the future of Gaza, “Zia Rashwan” added: “This plan distinguishes between the two concepts of ‘Stability Maintenance Force’ and ‘Security Management’ in Gaza.”

He added: “The Stability Maintenance Force is a military force whose task will be to separate Israel from Gaza during the withdrawal [of the invading forces] and to provide security around Gaza from within the region, and not to manage its internal affairs.”

The head of the Egyptian Information Agency warned that merging the duties of this force with executive and security responsibilities inside Gaza would cause confusion and tension.

He added that some clauses of the US proposal, such as disarmament of resistance groups or security management by foreign forces, were raised merely to create a space for discussion in the Security Council, and the aim was not to ratify them immediately.

Rashwan also pointed out the Israeli regime’s opposition to some provisions of the ceasefire agreement, saying: Tel Aviv is putting forward conditions as if it had won the war, while the Trump administration does not agree to all of these conditions.

He stressed that handing over the mission of disarming Hamas to a foreign military force would expose it to serious challenges and possible conflicts, and no country is willing to accept such a responsibility.

The head of the Egyptian Information Agency suggested that the administration of internal affairs in Gaza should be entrusted to a committee of independent figures and that the trained Palestinian police force should take on the task of ensuring the security of the area.

Rashwan stated explicitly that the Palestinians at the resistance level and at the Palestinian Authority level will never agree to the presence of a foreign security force to govern Gaza, because this action, instead of monitoring, will mean occupation.

Earlier, an informed source told CNN that the Trump administration was drafting a resolution in the UN Security Council that would establish a multinational force in Gaza to support the ceasefire agreement.

The source said that the plan would also include the formation of a temporary security force to disarm Hamas and train a new Palestinian police force.

In response to these reports, Hamas has also announced its opposition to handing over security management in Gaza to foreign forces.

Hamas leader Musa Abu Marzouk said on Tuesday night that such a plan would be difficult to pass in the Security Council and that the Palestinian consensus is that the security force in Gaza should be Palestinian and under the supervision of the governing committee.

Hamas issued a statement officially announcing the agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip and exchange prisoners.

Israeli army officially announced the implementation of the agreement. The ceasefire in the Gaza Strip was announced and stated: According to the agreement, Israeli forces will remain stationed in certain areas of the Gaza Strip, and movement from the south to the north of the Gaza Strip will be permitted via Al-Rashid Street and Salahuddin Road.
