While the Israeli regime is angry about the deployment of Egyptian military forces in the Sinai Desert, the Egyptian government provided explanations regarding these activities.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al Jazeera, the Egyptian General Intelligence Organization issued a statement regarding the deployment of Egyptian armed forces in the Sinai Peninsula.

The organization, which is affiliated with the Egyptian presidency, emphasized in its statement that the forces deployed in the Sinai Desert were originally deployed with the aim of securing Egypt’s borders against all dangers, including terrorist operations and smuggling, and within the framework of prior coordination with the parties to the peace treaty, to which Egypt is fully committed, as it has not violated any treaty or agreement throughout its history.

The organization once again announced Egypt’s opposition to expanding military operations in Gaza and displacing Palestinians from their lands, and emphasized Cairo’s support for the right of the Palestinian people to form their own independent state based on the two-state solution, in the territories of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The American news website Axios previously revealed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented US Secretary of State Marco Rubio with a list of Egyptian activities in Sinai during his meeting in Jerusalem last Monday.

An American and two Israeli officials told the website that Netanyahu has asked the administration of US President Donald Trump to pressure Egypt to reduce the recent military buildup in the Sinai Peninsula.

Netanyahu claims that Egypt knew that the deployment of Egyptian forces in Sinai was a fundamental violation of the compromise agreement signed with the regime in 1979, for which the United States played a guarantor role.

Previously, two Israeli officials claimed that the Egyptian army was building military infrastructure, some of which could be used for offensive purposes.
