Emirati officials criticize Saudi Arabia’s policies.
According to Arabi21, Abdul Khaliq Abdullah, former advisor to the UAE president, said in a statement that the military attack on the port of Mukalla was not a heroic act, and that the head of the Yemeni Supreme Council has ended his authority and lost his legitimacy, and that his statements are a waste of time.
He said: “To anyone who cares about the issue, the UAE will not abandon its allies and will support them with dignity and political and military generosity. The UAE will not leave its allies halfway without support. The UAE is transparent in its policies and steps and does not shy away from confrontation, and has a clear approach to its national and humanitarian responsibility and is strongly insistent on fulfilling it.”
On the other hand, Dhahi Khalfan, Deputy Chief of Police of Abu Dhabi, criticized Saudi Arabia and said: “Neither God nor the servants of God are satisfied with what Saudi Arabia did.”
He emphasized: “After the Saudi attack and the issuance of a statement by the country’s Foreign Ministry demanding the withdrawal of Emirati forces from Yemen, the north and south (of Yemen) were lost.” As if legitimacy is only for the north, not for the south. The monopoly of legitimacy in the north, without considering the south, contradicts all the concepts of unity that they claim.
The Saudi-led coalition supporting the so-called Presidential Council of Yemen recently called on civilians, soldiers, and fishermen to evacuate the port of Mukalla in Hadramaut province in the south of the country until further notice.
The coalition added in a statement that the request to evacuate the port of Mukalla was made due to the implementation of a military operation.
At the same time, the media reported a Saudi airstrike on two Emirati ships in the port.
The statement also emphasized that this action is being taken to protect civilians.
This decision was made after Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki, the official spokesman for the coalition forces supporting the so-called Yemeni Presidential Council, announced last Saturday that in response to the request of Rashad al-Alimi, the head of the Yemeni Presidential Council, to take immediate measures to protect civilians in Hadramaut province from humanitarian violations committed by the Southern Transitional Council forces, any military movement that contradicts the joint efforts of Saudi Arabia and the UAE to reduce tensions will be dealt with directly.
He noted that the goal is to withdraw the Transitional Council forces, hand over the garrisons to the “Homeland Shield” forces, empower the local government to carry out its responsibilities, and protect the lives of civilians.
Also, hours ago, the Saudi Foreign Ministry emphasized in a statement: The UAE must immediately comply with the request of Rashad al-Alimi, the head of the Yemeni Leadership Council, and withdraw all its forces from the country within 24 hours and stop any military and financial support from any side inside Yemen.
