England: We may recognize the Palestinian state after the ceasefire in Gaza

PNN – The British Foreign Minister claimed that his country may recognize the Palestinian state after the ceasefire in Gaza.

According to the Pakistan News Network, British Foreign Minister David Cameron said on Thursday that his country may officially recognize Palestine after the ceasefire in Gaza and did not wait for the results of several years of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

He said that if Hamas is in power in Gaza, the recognition of the Palestinian state will not happen. Cameron also said that this could happen as talks between Israeli and Palestinian leaders continue.

The British foreign minister said: “Recognition of Palestine cannot happen at the beginning of this process, but it does not need to happen at the end.”

He said: “What we need to do is to open a horizon for the Palestinians towards a better future, a future where they can have a country of their own.”

Cameron’s statements came in the context of Israeli media recently reporting that Tel Aviv is considering appointing former British Prime Minister Tony Blair as a mediator to convince the West to accept Gaza refugees after the end of the war.

This news was met with the reaction of the Palestinian Authority and warned that “Tony Blair is completing the Balfour Declaration”.

The Balfour Declaration was a letter written on November 2, 1917 by British Foreign Minister Arthur James Balfour to Walter Rothschild, a Jewish politician and member of the House of Commons, in which he expressed London’s “positive position” to “establish a national home for the Jews in the land.”
