England: We must show Russia that we “completely” back Ukraine.

British Foreign Secretary David Cameron stated that the West must show Russia that the West stands “absolutely” behind Ukraine by sanctioning all Russian assets, according to Rashatoudi.

He said: “We will show Russian President (Vladimir) Putin that we are completely behind Ukraine: we will chase (Russia’s) money and oil, we will stop gas, we will stop ships, we will do everything.” “We will do whatever we can to stop the Russian war machine.”

The British Foreign Minister added: Britain is hunting companies that do business with Russia all over the world. “We will sanction companies in China, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, even in Israel that we believe are supplying Russia with dual-use materials.”

Before this, Reuters news agency quoted the office of the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union in Brussels as saying that the ambassadors of this union officially agreed to start negotiations for the accession of Ukraine and Moldova to this bloc.

Belgium, which holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union for a period of 6 months, wrote on the “X” channel that the economic and finance ministers of the European Union must formally agree to this decision at the June 21 meeting.

According to Reuters, at the same time as the Russian army advances in the Donetsk region and opens a new front in the “Kharkiv” region located in the northeast of Ukraine, the beginning of EU accession negotiations can be a source of encouragement for Kiev!

This agreement means that Hungary has abandoned its opposition to the gradual membership of Ukraine in the European Union. Budapest, which has friendly relations with Moscow, has expressed doubts about the European Commission’s assessment of Ukraine’s readiness for accession. Last week, the European Commission claimed that Ukraine and Moldova have all the criteria to start accession negotiations.

The 27 members of the European Union must unanimously agree to start negotiations, which, of course, will take several years to reach their conclusion. Belgium and the European Commission were eager to get approval to start accession talks before Hungary takes over the rotating presidency of the EU (from July 1 for 6 months). Since the start of Russian military operations in Ukraine in February 2022, Kyiv has applied for EU membership, and four months later, the bloc granted Kyiv “candidate” status.

This decision comes at a time when the agricultural sector of the European Union and specifically the farmers are strongly against the accession of Ukraine to this bloc, and a few months ago they started protests in response to the entry of cheap and tax-free agricultural products from Ukraine into the European Union.
