PNN – The International Institute for Strategic Studies announced that despite the increase in the defense budget of European countries after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, these countries are facing a shortage of military force.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the German Radio website wrote that in recent years, European countries have purchased more weapons from domestic manufacturers. European NATO members have spent more than half of their defense budgets on purchasing European systems since February 2022. 34% was dedicated to the purchase of American systems.
In yesterday’s report of the mentioned institute, it is stated: Defense expenditures of the European members of NATO in 2024 are almost 50% higher than in 2014 and the annexation of Crimea to the territory of Russia.
It is stated in this report: The armed forces of major European countries are weak. Many of these countries are still facing the reduction of forces and the young generation does not have enough motivation to serve in the military.

Last week, French President Emmanuel Macron, in response to Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election and the heavy shadow of his anti-NATO policies over Europe, announced that the continent’s security should not depend on the US forever.
At the meeting of European leaders, Macron said that the continent must declare its security independence from America and defend its interests against the interests of geopolitical rivals.
He stated that Donald Trump, as the new president of the United States, usually defends the interests of the people of this country, and emphasized: We should not leave our security to the United States forever. Are we ready to defend the interests of European people?
