Erdogan: Security Council structure must be fundamentally changed.
According to Anatolia news agency, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan strongly confirmed the recent statements of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres regarding the reform of the Security Council and emphasized the need for a more just world system.
Erdogan said in a statement addressed to Post X Guterres: The structure of the UN Security Council, which is far from fulfilling its duties to ensure global peace and security, must be fundamentally changed.
The President of Türkiye added: The Security Council was designed by the victors of World War II. It is very valuable to express your opinions honestly and loudly about the need for reforms in the UN Security Council according to the current conditions and in a fair way for the world to enjoy a just system.
He specifically addressed the absence of Africa in this council and said: The continent of Africa and all our African brothers should be allowed to participate in this fair system. In response to these expectations, we still say that the world is bigger than 5 and we act with the understanding that a fairer world is possible.
