EU: Gaza ceasefire is a real opportunity to end the devastating war.
The EU’s foreign policy office said in a statement on Saturday morning: “The EU welcomes the agreement on the first phase of the comprehensive plan to end the war in Gaza, presented by US President Donald Trump, to ensure an immediate ceasefire and the release of all prisoners.”
The statement added: “We call on all parties to fully implement this agreement without delay and to allow for a lasting ceasefire, the release of prisoners and the unhindered entry and sustained and widespread distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza.”
The EU stressed: “This is a real opportunity to end this devastating war, the suffering of the people, and to establish a real political path to lasting security and peace based on a two-state solution.”
The European institution added: “The EU stands ready to contribute to the implementation of the comprehensive plan to end the war in Gaza, using the various tools at its disposal.”
Trump unveiled his 20-point plan for a ceasefire in Gaza on September 29, 2025, at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), on October 3, 2025, in response to Trump’s ceasefire plan, agreed to a complete cessation of hostilities, prisoner exchanges, and independent administration of Gaza, and called for the future of Gaza to be examined within the framework of Palestinian national interests.
The Israeli army officially announced on Friday afternoon that the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip had come into effect.
Al Jazeera Qatar announced on Friday night that it had obtained a document on the implementation stages of Trump’s plan to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, according to which the war in Gaza will stop within 72 hours after the Zionist regime and Hamas agree.
According to the provisions of this plan, immediately after the announcement of the agreement, humanitarian aid will enter the Gaza Strip, and the implementation of the provisions of the agreement of January 19, 2025, will begin in this regard.
