Europe approved the 14th package of sanctions against Russia’
According to Tass, the Council of the European Union announced that the European Union has approved the 14th package of sanctions against Russia, which includes restrictions on Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports through European ports.
In the middle of May, the “Euroobserver” website revealed that it obtained the document of these sanctions, which shows that the European Union countries intend to approve the fourteenth package of sanctions against Russia by July; The package neither restricts the freedom of movement of Russian diplomats in the EU nor bans the import of Russian liquefied natural gas, nuclear fuel or aluminum.
According to this website, this package will target 52 other companies from Russia and other countries suspected of sending prohibited goods to Moscow. Prohibited goods include drone components in particular.
In addition, the new sanctions package proposes an EU-wide ban on Russian financial contributions to European political parties and European political foundations, non-governmental organizations and media service providers.
The draft new sanctions also ban EU ports from shipping Russian liquefied natural gas to non-EU countries, ban ships from EU ports that help circumvent Russian sanctions, as well as existing EU restrictions on shipping Russian Air Force and the import of helium and Russian minerals will intensify.
Valdis Dombrowski, executive vice president of the European Commission (EC), the executive arm of the European Union, said earlier that the EU was struggling to negotiate a 14th package of sanctions against Russia, adding that it was unlikely to include new restrictions. But it is only trying to counter Russia’s actions to overcome the sanctions blockade.
The European Union started drafting the 14th package of sanctions against Moscow right after the 13th package was approved on February 23. These restrictions included 106 natural persons and 88 legal persons from Russia and a number of other countries including India, Kazakhstan, China, Serbia, Thailand, Turkey and Sri Lanka.
