Europe is in the double trap of “immigration” and “livelihood”

Europe is in the double trap of “immigration” and “livelihood”

The European Union, which was referred to as a model of regional integration until years ago, has declined in recent years, especially during the two-year crisis in Ukraine, and is facing serious challenges.

Therefore, the developments of the European continent at this time cannot be scrutinized without paying attention to the crisis in Ukraine. Of course, the consequences of this great event, which affected the whole world in different ways, were more evident in the first year; From the flood of millions of Ukrainian refugees to European countries, especially Poland and Germany, to unprecedented inflation, lack of energy and cold and hard winter.

In 1402, although the impact of the Ukraine crisis on European countries was reduced to some extent compared to the previous year, its consequences still pose challenges to the people of the Green Continent and the leaders of Brussels.

immigration policy; Achilles heel of the union

Over the past decades, Europe has accommodated millions of immigrants and refugees from all over the world, especially the Middle Eastern countries, which have been dragged into crisis by the intervention and war-mongering of the West.

According to the statistics published by the “United Nations Refugee Agency” after the beginning of the Ukraine crisis, each European country has had a share of hosting Ukrainian refugees. Meanwhile, Poland was in first place with more than 1.5 million people, Germany was in second place with more than one million people, and the Czech Republic was in third place with 463 thousand people. Moldova, Bulgaria, Italy, France, England and Italy were also the destinations of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian asylum seekers.

1402 Europe in the double trap of “immigration” and “livelihood”

The pressure of immigrants on the members of this continent went to the point where the domino pieces of asylum-seeking in this continent fell one after another during 1402. One of its cases was related to the change in Germany’s immigration policy; A country that is considered the leader of the European Union and the economic engine of the Eurozone.

“Reuters” news agency quoted two government sources who did not want to be named, and wrote in October: Berlin has announced to the states that in 2024 (1403) it will allocate a maximum of 1.7 billion euros to cover the costs of asylum seekers; This figure was 3.75 billion euros this year.

It is not only Germany that is afraid of immigrants and asylum seekers, but this crisis has become the Achilles heel of the Union. Simultaneously with Germany’s action to reduce the costs of asylum seekers, “Joseph Borrell” responsible for the foreign policy of the European Union considered the “dissolution of the Union” scenario as probable and warned that the Union is struggling with a deep divide over immigration policies and the immigration issue can become the European Union’s lead to liquidation.

Burrell considered this difference to be the result of deep cultural and political differences between the member states of the European Union and said: “Some members of the European Union resist accepting immigrants and behave like Japan and say that we do not want to accept foreigners and immigrants and mix with them.” and we want to maintain our racial purity.

It should be noted that the responsibility of settling immigrants is not equally distributed throughout the European Union. Since 2015, when the number of refugees and immigrants heading to Europe reached its peak, Germany has allowed most of the refugees into the country, while Poland (except accepting Ukrainian refugees) and Hungary have not even agreed to meet the quota set for them by the European Union. to accept Issues like this has caused strong differences among the members of the European Union.

The meetings and immigration policies of the union have not been a solution so far. In July 1402, the European Union agreed to reform its immigration policy for the first time in years. Previous attempts to regulate migration under the Dublin Regulation, which stipulates that an asylum seeker must apply for settlement in the first member state they enter, have not worked.

The revision of the Dublin Act, which imposed mandatory admission quotas on member states, only deepened the rift within the bloc. Under the new proposed law, countries can refuse to accept migrants they are responsible for under the quota system, but must pay 22,000 euros for each refugee they refuse to accept.

This action provides flexibility for governments that are hesitant to accept immigrants. Of course, some Eastern European countries are still unhappy. For example, Poland disagreed and argued that the figure set for the refusal to accept asylum seekers would cause its costs to rise.

The dispute over the acceptance of immigrants and asylum seekers continues while we are always witnessing the double standard of Europeans. The creation of obstacles in the path of refugees, the turning away of some actors from the immigration policy of the Union, the violent treatment of war victims, and the reflection of the news of the reduction of the budget related to the costs of refugees in depicted the tail of the human rights and asylum policy of the Green Continent.

The double standard and discriminatory treatment of immigrants and asylum seekers is carried out while they are cheap labor and saving Europe from the danger of population aging. Therefore, immigration helped many European countries to overcome the problem of decreasing their population; in these countries, due to the low fertility rate and the age structure of the elderly population, the death rate is higher than the birth rate.
