The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has called for Tehran to cooperate fully and effectively with the agency in a confidential report that reiterates claims that Iran is accumulating “weapons-grade” enriched uranium. The report comes at a critical juncture as Tehran and Washington negotiate over Iran’s nuclear program. The report claimed that Iran had enriched 408.6 kilograms of 60 percent uranium as of May 17, an increase of 133.8 kilograms compared to the Agency’s last report in February.
This provocative report led to the adoption of an anti-Iranian resolution by the IAEA Board of Governors, and the issuance of a resolution against Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program paved the way for American and Zionist aggression against Iran.
During a public session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, during the consideration of a priority request from a number of representatives for the report of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee regarding the proposal to require the government to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, representatives agreed to this request with 210 votes in favor, 2 votes against, and 2 abstentions out of a total of 219 people present in the chamber.
In response to these developments, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, on Friday, July 26, on the social network “X”, described the Islamic Consultative Assembly’s resolution to stop cooperation with the Agency as “a direct result of Rafael Grossi’s regrettable role” and stated: Grossi’s biased action directly paved the way for the passage of a politically motivated resolution against Iran in the Board of Governors, as well as facilitating illegal Israeli and American attacks on Iranian nuclear sites.
