These statements by the Hungarian Foreign Minister come at a time when the gloom in European relations with the United States has entered a new phase after Donald Trump announced his desire to take over Greenland and the Europeans opposed it.
Recent US moves to seize Greenland as a strategic island in the North Atlantic Ocean have raised the level of US security threat to Europe to an unprecedented level.
Donald Trump has announced that the United States will not accept anything less than full control of Greenland and will impose a 10% tariff on countries that oppose the takeover, including Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland.
On the other hand, Danish military officials, referring to recent US military movements, have spoken of the possibility of an imminent attack on the island, thus strengthening the military dimension of the crisis.
