Trump told reporters in New Jersey: The sanctions they are imposing are not strong enough. And I am inclined to impose sanctions, but they need to tighten their sanctions to match what I am imposing.
The US president added that as long as Europe continues to buy Russian oil, it should not expect the US to impose sanctions on Moscow.
Trump had previously written on his social media account, Truth Social, that he was prepared to impose severe sanctions on Russia provided that all NATO countries agreed to and took similar action; and that all NATO member countries stopped buying oil from Russia.
