Europe’s storm of criticism and London’s meaningful silence

PNN – The verbal dispute between the presidents of the United States and Ukraine has brought a wave of sharp criticism from European leaders in support of Kiev, but London officials have remained silent more than three hours after the event.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the British Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, who were guests of Donald Trump in the White House, did not react to the recent tensions until the publication of this news.

The last message of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the X social network (former Twitter) is about congratulating the appointment of Jenny Chapman to replace Annalisa Dodds, the former British Deputy Secretary of State for International Development. Dodds resigned a few hours ago in protest of London’s adherence to Donald Trump’s foreign aid policies.

British Foreign Minister David Lemmy has not reacted on social networks or media so far. Some former British government officials have reacted to the developments in Washington, but the silence of current officials shows that London is still evaluating how to respond to this event.

James Cleverly, the former foreign minister of the British government, in a clear reaction to the recent developments, wrote on X social network: Even if England is the only country in the world that supports Ukraine, we must continue to support them. They are at the forefront of our defense. Their sons and daughters are fighting and dying for our freedom and we should thank them.

Zelensky’s humiliation in the White House; Where is the future of the Ukrainian war heading?

He further wrote: American isolationism has never worked. If Putin wins the war, the world will become a more dangerous place. Other regimes are watching and we have to show them that we are determined.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House turned into a verbal conflict due to sharp differences over how to achieve peace with Russia, and Zelensky left the White House prematurely. Trump accused Zelensky of “disrespecting the United States” and said he was not ready for peace.

This event met with a wide response from European leaders and they emphasized their support for Kiev.

German Chancellor Olaf Schultz also emphasized: No one wants peace more than Ukrainians. We are working on a common path for a lasting and just peace. Ukraine can count on the help of Germany and Europe.

Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the European Commission, also emphasized the EU’s support for Ukraine and said to Zelensky: You showed the courage of the Ukrainian people with your dignity.

By publishing a message on X, he wrote: President Zelensky, be strong, be brave, be fearless. You are never alone. We will continue to work with you to establish a just and lasting peace.

These developments reflect growing tensions in transatlantic relations and European concerns about a change in US approach to the Ukraine war. European leaders will meet in London on Sunday to discuss the future of the war in Ukraine and the security of this continent.
