According to this report, during the first months of the war against the Gaza Strip, the Israeli regime intended to assassinate Al-Hayya through a direct airstrike at Beirut International Airport, but the operation was canceled at the last moment due to what was said to be a lack of reliable information about his exact location.
The news was released at a time when the Israeli regime’s attempt in September 2025 to assassinate the Hamas negotiating delegation in Doha, Qatar, of which Khalil al-Hayyah was a part, failed, and his son “Hammam” and a group of his companions and office staff were martyred in the attack.
