Exposing the scandal of mistreatment of women in the British submarine fleet

PNN – An investigative report has revealed a scandal of sexual harassment, bullying and assault against women in the Royal Navy.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing the “Spiegel” weekly newspaper, an investigative report shows “misogyny and bullying” in the British submarine fleet. Disciplinary action has been taken against several Navy personnel, but significant portions of the report have been redacted.

In this report, sexual harassment, bullying and attacks on women have been revealed. Nearly two years after a former female officer made serious allegations of sexual harassment in the Royal Navy, an investigative report has now confirmed key allegations. Based on this, there have been incidents of misogyny in British submarines for years.

In this regard, Admiral Ben Kay, the head of the British Royal Navy, apologized for the “unbearable” misogyny in the submarine service. The foreword to the report states that he is “sincerely sorry” for the women who have suffered “misogyny, bullying and other unacceptable behavior”.

As a result of these investigations, extensive action was taken against several individuals, including dismissal from the Navy. Ben Kay also said: In addition, there is now a “zero tolerance culture” and structural changes in the Navy. He said: However, more measures are needed. Kay said: We have to do better and do more than what we have done.

Whistleblower Sophie Brooke, who was one of the first women to serve in Britain’s submarine fleet, made the allegations public in 2022. Other women reported similar experiences in the Royal Navy.

The report now lists several claims made by Brooke that have been investigated by the Navy. The report described how men exchanged views on women and pursued them as “legitimate targets”. However, key sections are blacked out in the 117-page document.

Sophie Brook welcomed the research in an interview with Sky News. He emphasized: I am relieved that the investigation has finally ended. He hopes that this report is not just a symbolic gesture. He emphasized: Real changes are necessary.
