PNN – Sweden’s immigration office announced that Selvan Momika, who had tried to burn the Quran several times before, will be deported from this country.
According to Pakistan News Network’s report from the Baghdad Al-Yum news website, the Swedish Immigration Department announced that it will deport Selvan Momika, who is originally from Iraq and has become a refugee in Sweden.
According to this report, the Swedish Immigration Office also claimed that considering that Momika may be tortured in his native country; Sweden has decided not to implement this sentence for the time being.
A spokesman for the Swedish Immigration Department told Reuters: “The Immigration Department decided to revoke Momika’s status and residence permit and return him to Iraq.”
He added: But Sweden cannot implement this sentence because this person will face the risk of torture and inhumane treatment if he returns to Iraq, and for this reason, he has been given a limited residence permit until April 16, 2024, after which he will be deported.
This spokesperson also said: The reason for issuing Momika’s deportation order was that he had provided wrong information in his application form for obtaining residence.
During the past months, Selvan Momika, an Iraqi refugee, had repeatedly tried to burn the Holy Quran in Sweden, which faced the anger of Muslims around the world.
