Christopher Wray, head of the US Federal Police Department, announced on Saturday that the People’s Republic of China is working on capabilities that target US critical infrastructure to be able to damage US critical infrastructure at a specified time.
The head of the FBI claimed that Chinese hackers have already infiltrated US infrastructure using botnets (computer networks and compromised servers) and are just waiting for the right moment to deliver a devastating blow to these infrastructures.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian recently announced that his country wants the United States to immediately stop its cyber attacks against China and stop slandering China.
The spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a press conference that “Volt Typhoon” is a ransomware cybercriminal group and no country or region supports it.
Lin added that it is no secret that America is the biggest source of cyber attacks in the world and the biggest threat to cyber security.
