Fire at Bnei Barak power plant exposes weakness of Israel’s smart infrastructure

Bnei Barak

PNN – Several fires in the electricity distribution systems of the city of Bnei Barak in the occupied territories once again demonstrated the vulnerability of the Israeli regime’s critical infrastructure and smart grids.

Local sources have attributed the incidents to high-voltage disturbances, while others have suggested the possibility of a cyber-attack.

Local Israeli media have reported that several incidents have occurred in various parts of Bnei Barak.

A spokesman for the Israeli Fire Department announced that these incidents caused fires in electrical panels and energy transmission equipment, and residents of some areas were temporarily evacuated.

Israeli electricity experts have emphasized that the city of Bnei Barak was one of the most incident-prone cities of the occupying regime in terms of power grid disruptions in 2025.

According to some sources, with the increasing dependence of infrastructure on smart systems, there is a possibility of vulnerability to cyber-attacks; although officials have cited technical errors as the cause of recent incidents.

These events have once again highlighted concerns about the security of critical infrastructure and the capability of smart grids in the occupied territories.
