PNN – “Foreign Affairs” magazine emphasized in an analysis that in future wars, new weapons and war algorithms based on artificial intelligence will be the first words, America has not yet equipped its army for future wars.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network from this analytical media, future wars will no longer depend on which side has the most military power or the best jets, ships, and tanks, but on having autonomous weapon systems and powerful algorithms.
Foreign Affairs added: Unfortunately, this is a future for which the United States is not prepared. American soldiers are not yet ready to fight in future combat environments. US military jets, ships and tanks are not equipped to defend against drone attacks. The US military has yet to embrace AI, and the Pentagon doesn’t have nearly enough initiatives to correct these failures.
The analysis continued: If the United States wants to remain the world’s preeminent power, it must quickly change course. The army of this country must reform the structure of its armed forces and reform its tactics and leadership development. It requires new ways to procure equipment and purchase new types of weapons. Also, better training of soldiers to work with drones and use artificial intelligence should be at the top of the army’s plans.

The author of the article pointed out that American policymakers do not welcome the systematic review of the country’s military sector and emphasized: The reality is that robots and artificial intelligence are here to stay and play a role. But if the United States fails to lead this transformation, countries equipped with new technologies will be more inclined to attack the United States.
Foreign Affairs added: Unfortunately, the United States’ enemies are equipped, if not completely, but in many ways, for future wars. With the experience gained in the war with Ukraine, Russia has dramatically increased its production of drones and is now using unmanned drones to influence on the battlefield. China dominates the global commercial drone market: Chinese company DJI controls about 70% of global commercial drone production.
The article went on to add: When it comes to artificial intelligence, the US still has the highest quality systems and pays the most for them. However, China and Russia are rapidly gaining an upper hand over the US. American soldiers are not fully prepared for operations on the battlefield where their every move is visible and can be quickly targeted by drones. This lack of experience would be particularly dangerous in open battlefields such as Ukraine, as well as other Eastern European countries or the vast expanses of the Arctic. The U.S. military would also be vulnerable on urban battlefields, where adversaries can easily cut U.S. lines of communication and where many U.S. weapons are less useful.
The author of this analysis, questioning the effectiveness of the current war capabilities of the United States, writes: The United States will be vulnerable to the advances of its enemies even at sea. China’s hypersonic missiles can sink US aircraft carriers before they leave Pearl Harbor. Beijing is already deploying artificial intelligence-based surveillance and electronic warfare systems that could give it a defensive advantage over the United States in the entire Indo-Pacific. In aerial warfare, the US uses powerful but expensive F-35 jets, which may be comparable to a host of cheap drones. Also, the heavily armored Abrams and Bradley tanks of the US Army may be destroyed by these drones.
Foreign Affairs wrote in the end: Considering these unfortunate realities, US military planners must have come to the conclusion that the era of glorious and imposing wars in which Washington could destroy its enemies with enormous firepower is over.
