Foreign Affairs’ provocative report on Iran-Iraq relations with the threat of sanctions.

Foreign Affairs’ provocative report on Iran-Iraq relations with the threat of sanctions.

According to the Baghdad Today website, Foreign Affairs magazine, which is close to the US State Department, reported on Thursday in a report about the long-standing relations between Iran and Iraq that the US is taking action to end Iran’s control over Iraq, and introduced Iraq as a “milk cow” for the Iranian economy!

In the following, Foreign Affairs wrote that after recent developments, the Iranian government has lost its pivot in the region and is now completely dependent on Iraq, which is considered its last remaining card in the region, especially economically.

The magazine also explained that the US government is now trying to reduce Iran’s influence in Iraq, adding: Washington has taken action in this regard not through widespread military action against Iranian proxy forces in Iraq, but by using strong diplomacy, the threat of sanctions, and direct intelligence operations that prevent Iran from using the Iraqi budget as a source for its economy.

The magazine further claimed that the Iraqi government would be subject to new sanctions if it refused to comply with Washington’s desire to deprive Tehran of financial resources.

At the end of its report, the magazine, regardless of the friendly, cordial, and brotherly relations between the people and governments of Iran and Iraq in recent decades, emphasized that Washington is determined to make Iran lose Iraq, explaining: Iran will soon lose Iraq and America will have the most influence in it!

This Foreign Affairs report was presented in a situation where Iran has not hesitated to provide any assistance to the Iraqi government and people in recent years and has acted to support the country at historical and dangerous junctures, especially during the rise of ISIS terrorists who had occupied Iraqi territory with the support of America, and with the support of popular and indigenous Iraqi forces, saved the country from the great danger of being dominated by terrorist elements.
