Foreign Minister of Ireland: Gaza war proved Israel’s long oppression of Palestine

PNN – “Michael Marten”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ireland, said on Wednesday night: The war in Gaza is a clear example of Israel’s extremism and long-term repression against the Palestinian people.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Marten, speaking to Al Jazeera, stated: We decided to recognize the state of Palestine for reasons including support for the “two-state” solution.

He stated that “we are part of the global movement to recognize the state of Palestine in the framework of supporting peace and a two-state solution”, and added: The recognition of the Palestinian state is a message from our side to the Palestinian nation and recognition of the United Nations resolutions.

Simultaneously with the action of the governments of Ireland, Spain and Norway in officially recognizing the Palestinian state, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ireland said: other European countries are seriously seeking to recognize the state of Palestine and will take steps in this direction.

He added: “Political negotiations should be started and everyone should work to find a solution to end the war in Gaza.”

Marten said, the recognition of the Palestinian state was important, especially since Netanyahu’s cabinet has taken steps to destroy the two-state solution.

He stated that the war against Gaza is an example of extremism and oppression of Palestinians for a long time by the Zionist regime.

Earlier, “Irish Independent” reported that the Irish government also announced in a statement that Dublin will recognize Palestine as an independent state on May 28.
