Foreign Minister of Pakistan: We will further strengthen the partnership with Iran

PNN – Pakistan’s foreign minister emphasized the country’s “peaceful neighborhood” approach in the region and said: Our efforts to deepen cooperation with friendly countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, will continue rapidly.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from Pakistan National TV, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar said today during a speech at the Islamabad Institute of Strategic Studies (ISSI): Pakistan’s approach is conceptualized in the policy of “peaceful neighborhood” and seeks to create a peaceful external environment so that we can seriously advance our main national goal of sustainable economic development, so Pakistan is still a strong supporter of the inseparable link between peace and development.

He added: Pakistan has continuously tried to have peaceful relations, cooperation and good neighborliness with all the neighboring countries. Despite the challenges and even failures in some cases, Pakistan’s approach has remained constant.

Referring to Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan, Senator Ishaq said: A peaceful, stable, united and prosperous Afghanistan is in the interest of Pakistan. Apart from the demand for the formation of an inclusive government and respect for the rights of all Afghans, we emphasize the essential need to ensure that Afghanistan’s soil is not used by terrorism against other countries.

He said: We hope that the authorities of the interim government of Afghanistan will pay attention to this call with an enlightened view and take the necessary practical steps to resolve our serious concerns.

Referring to the importance of Islamabad’s close relations with the countries of the Persian Gulf and Central Asia, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan emphasized: Our efforts to establish deeper partnerships with friendly countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, will continue rapidly.

He added: Our main focus is on establishing closer business and investment relations and increasing regional connections, and in this regard, the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in Pakistan plays a significant role.

Acknowledging the continuing stalemate in relations with India and the need to resolve the Kashmir dispute, Pakistan’s foreign minister said it now depends on New Delhi to take the necessary steps to create an environment conducive to purposeful engagement and result-oriented dialogue on all issues between Pakistan and India.
