Foreign Policy’s writer Stephen Walt describes the anatomy of a “Fall”

According to Foreign Policy, Stephen Walt, a professor of international relations at Harvard University, wrote in an article for the magazine (Foreign Policy) describing the process of the disintegration of the Zionist regime, that Israel is in trouble.

Walt wrote that Israeli citizens are deeply divided and this situation is unlikely to improve. Israel is caught in an unwinnable war in Gaza, and its army has shown signs of weakening, and a large-scale war with Hezbollah or Iran is also possible. Israel’s economy is also suffering, and according to The Times of Israel, 60,000 businesses will likely close this year.

Moreover, Israel’s recent actions have severely tarnished its global image, and today it is being ostracized to a degree that was previously unimaginable. After the Hamas operation on October 7, 2023, Israel faced a flood of sympathy from its allies, but with the passage of 10 months since the genocide in Gaza and the intensification of settler violence in the West Bank, all that (unjustifiable) flood of sympathy has disappeared. The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has requested the issuance of an arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister, and Yoaf Galant, the Minister of War of the Zionist regime, on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. In its initial findings, the International Court of Justice has described Israel’s actions as inherently genocidal and has called Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem a clear violation of international law.

Only those defenders and supporters of the Zionist regime, who have “buried their heads deep under the snow”, can look at what is happening in Gaza and not be deeply disturbed and terrified. Support for Israel’s actions in the United States is on the decline, and the young generation of America is against the inaction of the Joe Biden administration in the face of Israel’s actions.

Walt wrote that “to place all the blame on Netanyahu is to ignore a deeper problem; “The gradual erosion of strategic thinking in Israel over the past 50 years”; Israel’s achievements and tactical skills in its first two decades, especially among older people, have obscured the extent to which its major strategic choices since 1967 have undermined its security.
