PNN – The former head of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) said: I tend to believe what Iran says more than what Donald Trump says.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, John Brennan, former CIA director during Barack Obama’s presidency, said on a television program: I believe what Iran says more than what our own president says, because US President Donald Trump refuses to accept the truth even when he has been slapped in the face with it many times.
These statements by Brennan come at a time when Trump has changed his views on the conflict several times in recent weeks, and contradictions can be seen in his words.
The former CIA director previously criticized the US president’s reasons for starting a war with Iran, accusing Washington of lying to justify starting the war, and in statements he criticized Trump’s logic for war with Iran.
He also noted that no US intelligence report – whether on ballistic missiles, the nuclear program or terrorism-related – indicated any “imminent” threat from Iran, and stressed that there was nothing that would justify the US moving to “invade Iranian airspace and bomb it.”
Brennan said: I think lies are being spread quickly as a way to justify the logic of war, and there really is no logic to it. The Trump administration is lying to justify going to war with Iran.
