PNN – Former French ambassador to the United States, Gerard Araud, warned in a message that the United States, without a clear vision for its actions against Iran, would face a stalemate in the event of a military attack on it.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Gerard Araud, former French ambassador to the United States, wrote in a message on the X social network, following the bellicose statements of American officials against Iran and the increase in military tensions between the parties in the region with the dispatch of American weapons to West Asia: America is facing a stalemate against Iran.
Araud said: What can they (the US) do? Bomb? The regime will suffer; the country will suffer even more, but it is not certain that its political situation will undergo fundamental changes.
Arood’s statements come after US President Donald Trump, continuing his contradictory approach of calling for negotiations and agreement while increasing military threats, recently claimed that talks between the parties have taken place and that Iran wants an agreement.
Regional countries, including Türkiye and the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf, have recently increased diplomatic efforts to reduce military tensions between the parties.
Earlier, the New York Times reported that Trump is still seeking a diplomatic solution, and some officials acknowledged that the public issuance of military threats was aimed at forcing Iran to negotiate.
The Trump administration’s negotiating positions have now gone beyond the nuclear issue and include banning Iran from enriching uranium, giving up its stockpile of enriched uranium, as well as imposing limits on the range and number of ballistic missiles and cutting ties with resistance movements.
Regarding possible negotiations with the United States, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi stated that there is currently no serious basis for negotiations with Washington. Araghchi emphasized that for a real and fruitful negotiation, the atmosphere of threats and pressure must first be eliminated, stating that no progress can be achieved without creating common ground regarding the content, form, and rules of negotiation.
Tehran has stated that it is prepared for any scenario and that its focus is on defending the country, although it has always welcomed diplomacy from an equal position based on mutual respect.
“Esmail Baghaei, spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized in his press conference last week that Iran is confident in its capabilities and we have past experiences, including the experience of the 12-day war, in mind, and we are more capable than ever of giving a comprehensive and regretful response to any aggression against Iran.
