Following the seizure of the “Madeleine” ship by the Israeli regime and the arrest of its passengers, there were numerous reactions to the incident from well-known figures as well as public protest rallies in various parts of the world.

Zaher Birawi, head of the International Committee to Break the Siege of Gaza, said in response to this action: Israel challenged international law by raiding the Madeleine ship in front of the eyes of the world.

The leader of the French left-wing party also condemned the action, calling it a clear violation of international law and emphasizing: Protesting against the seizure of the Madeleine ship and the arrest of volunteers should be a priority for European and UN foreign policy.

Ahmet Davutoglu, the head of the Future Party of Turkey and the country’s former prime minister, also stated: The barbaric Israeli military once again made a mockery of the world and international law by boarding the Madeleine freedom ship.

The wife of the detained journalist Omar Fayyad also emphasized that her husband suffers from asthma and needs daily medication. She held the Zionist regime directly responsible for his health.

The sister of detained Dutch activist Mark van Rijn also expressed concern, saying, we have contacted the French Foreign Ministry and demanded the release of all activists. My brother, believing in the right to life of the people of Gaza, made this trip worth his while.

The UN Special Rapporteur on Palestinian human rights also emphasized: Breaking the siege on Gaza is a moral duty, and every port in the Mediterranean should send ships carrying aid and solidarity to Gaza.
