Gallant explains reasons for his disagreement with Netanyahu.
According to Al Jazeera, the dismissed Israeli Minister of War, Yoav Gallant, who was dismissed from his post yesterday, called for the return of Israeli prisoners from Gaza and stressed that all residents of the occupied territories must perform military service without exception.
Explaining the reasons for his dismissal from the post of the Israeli Minister of War, he stated that his commitment was to the return of the prisoners and that Tel Aviv should immediately take steps towards the release of the prisoners who are still alive.
Referring to the discriminatory laws regarding Talmudic Jews, who are currently exempt from military service due to the shortage of army personnel, Gallant stated that all Israelis must perform military service.
He continued that his dismissal from the regime’s Ministry of War was the result of three fundamental differences with Netanyahu, the first of which is regarding the conscription of Talmudic Jews, and he believes that all those of military age should join the army.
The former Israeli defense minister considered the second disagreement to be the insistence on returning the prisoners from the Gaza Strip as soon as possible, saying that this goal is achievable with some minor and possibly painful setbacks.
Gallant considered his third disagreement with Netanyahu to be the insistence on forming a formal investigation committee into the events of October 7.
Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed Israeli defense minister Yoav Gallant yesterday evening. The Zionist newspaper Yedioth Aharonot reported that Netanyahu informed him of this just 10 minutes before issuing the statement dismissing Gallant.
Following the dismissal of Yoav Gallant, former Israeli foreign minister Yisrael Katz became defense minister, and Gideon Sa’ar was appointed foreign minister.
