Gallup: The acceptance of the performance of the US Congress is at the lowest level since 2017

PNN – The results of a new Gallup survey showed that the acceptance of the performance of the US Congress by the voters of this country has decreased to 13%, which is the lowest level since 2017.

According to Pakistan News Network’s report on Saturday, the Gallup website wrote in announcing the results of the institute’s new survey: At the same time as the election of the new speaker of the US House of Representatives dragged on, which paralyzed this body for a week while Washington’s allies were caught in the war, the rate of approval of the performance of the Congress by Americans has increased from 17% to 13%.

This is the lowest level since October and November 2017. In that year, only 13% of the voters accepted the performance of the Congress.

Since 1974, Gallup has assessed Americans’ views on the performance of Congress, including monthly updates since 2001.

According to the results of a new survey of this institute that was published on Friday, in their evaluations of Congress, Republicans and Democrats alike had a negative view of this institution, so that only 8% of Republicans and 10% of Democrats approved the performance of Congress. In relation to the Democrats, their acceptance of the performance of the Congress has decreased by 12% compared to September.

This is the lowest level of approval of Congress by the Democrats since December 2018, when the Republicans controlled the House of Representatives and the Senate under the administration of former US President Donald Trump. That year, only 9 percent of Democrats approved of Congress’s performance.

According to Bloomberg, Republicans have typically had a less favorable view of Congress this year than Democrats. At the same time, the Republicans have the majority of the House of Representatives with the achievement they achieved in the 2022 mid-term elections.

Democrats hold the majority in the Senate, but they seem to have a more positive view of Congress because of a Democratic president in the White House.

Currently, 19 percent of independents with no party affiliation approve of how Congress is doing, unchanged from last month and similar to their views throughout 2023.

Bloomberg wrote: This survey also showed that Americans are not satisfied with the performance of the President of this country, Joe Biden, and the level of acceptance of Biden’s performance as the President has decreased to 37%.

In this survey, disappointment with government officials was evident and Americans identified the government as the most important problem in the country. 19% of Americans said the government is the most important problem facing the country. 14% also mentioned the issue of economy and inflation as the biggest problem of the country. 13% of the participants in the recent survey believed that immigration is the main concern of the country at the moment.

An almost equal percentage of Republicans (22%) and Democrats (20%) identify the government as the most important issue facing the country, and this view is confirmed by less than 16% of independents.

The survey was conducted with the participation of 9,000 American adults between October 2 and 23 and has a margin of error of 4%.
