“Gaza ceasefire”: Multiple, fruitless rounds of negotiations in 2024.

“Gaza ceasefire”: Multiple, fruitless rounds of negotiations in 2024.

The Palestinian resistance, led by the Hamas movement, launched a unique surprise operation at dawn on October 7, 2023, by attacking military bases and Zionist settlements near the Gaza Strip. While capturing these bases, it captured dozens of Zionists.

After the Palestinian resistance launched Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, the Israeli regime authorities, believing that they could destroy the resistance groups and capture the Gaza Strip within a few days, began their intense airstrikes on various parts of the region on October 7.

The Israeli army brutally bombed various areas of the Gaza Strip for 20 days, but it achieved nothing other than the killing and slaughter of innocent people, women, and children.

The occupiers, who were furious at failing to achieve their goals through airstrikes, inevitably committed another folly on the evening of October 27, 2023 (5th Aban 1402), as part of the war against the Palestinian resistance, and launched a massive ground invasion into the Gaza Strip with the two declared goals of destroying the Hamas movement and overthrowing its government in the Gaza Strip, and returning the Zionist prisoners from this region. Simultaneously with the ground assault, they continued air and artillery attacks.

Temporary ceasefire
Along with these ground and airstrikes, the mediators initiated negotiations to reach a ceasefire agreement and prisoner exchange. Finally, after 46 days of fighting in November 2023, with the mediation of Qatar and Egypt, a temporary ceasefire was established between the Palestinian resistance groups and the Zionist regime.

The two sides agreed to stop the fighting for four days from November 24 (3rd Azar 1402). The main provisions of the agreement were the release of 50 Zionist prisoners in the Gaza Strip in exchange for 150 Palestinian prisoners held by the occupying regime and the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
