Gaza on the brink of medical disaster

PNN – A reporter for Al-Alam News Network warned of a health and medical disaster in the Gaza Strip, reporting that 84 percent of laboratory materials and equipment in the area have run out, putting the lives of patients at serious risk.

According to the report, laboratories and blood banks in the Gaza Strip are at risk of closing and ceasing operations after running out of 84 percent of essential laboratory materials. This situation has serious consequences for the health of patients and the injured and threatens their lives.

This severe shortage has led to disruptions in vital tests, particularly complete blood counts (CBC, to assess blood health and diagnose diseases such as anemia, infection, or blood disorders), blood gases, and blood sodium, as well as “crossmatch” tests in blood banks, which have directly impacted hospital diagnoses.

Health and medical officials in the Gaza Strip said that the crisis was exacerbated by the continued ban on the import of medical equipment by the Israeli regime, which has caused the remaining stock to run out and staff to be unable to replenish it.
