PNN – Continuing his trip to West Asian countries, the Indonesian President raised the Gaza issue as the main focus of his conversation with the Egyptian President.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Prabowo Subianto arrived in Egypt today, Saturday, Cairo time, continuing his diplomatic travels to the West Asia region.
He announced on the social network X that he was welcomed at Cairo International Airport by Egyptian Minister of Commerce Mohamed Ibrahim Ahmed Shami.
Prabowo stated that the main purpose of this trip was to meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and discuss with him the current geopolitical situation in the region, especially the developments in Gaza.
According to reports, the visit is part of Pravo’s Middle East tour, which previously included the United Arab Emirates and Türkiye, and is set to continue in Qatar and Jordan after Egypt.
The Indonesian official arrived in Ankara before traveling to Cairo to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and announced his willingness to participate in the implementation of Turkey’s TAI TF Kaan fifth-generation fighter jet development plan.
According to Turkish media reports, this twin-engine stealth fighter jet was developed by the state-owned Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and its first test flights were successfully conducted in 2024. Therefore, mass production of this fighter is expected to begin in 2028 or 2029.
Prabowo also announced Indonesia’s interest in cooperating with Turkish defense industries in the field of submarine construction, although no further details of this cooperation were provided.
The Indonesian President also announced a bilateral agreement to establish a joint defense company between Jakarta and Ankara, which is considered an important step in deepening military-industrial cooperation between Indonesia and Türkiye.
These measures are a continuation of the arms and military modernization policy that Prabowo had initiated since he was Minister of Defense in the Joko Widodo government.
