Gaza: The uncertain future of Trump’s peace plan.
The Hebrew-language newspaper Israel Hayom reported today that the presence and ongoing communication between terrorist groups led by Yasser Abu Shabab in Rafah and Hossam al-Astal in the Khan Yunis area with the US-led international command at the Kiryat Gat base has led to the strengthening of American relations with these terrorist groups.
According to the Zionist newspaper, in direct talks between Kushner, US officials, and officers from the Kiryat Gat command headquarters with the terrorist groups, they emphasized strengthening cooperation and presented proposals and mechanisms for this relationship and cooperation.
The Americans are also trying to determine the type of cooperation, the areas of influence in Gaza, and the security control by these terrorist groups.
In return, Yasser Abu Shabab and Hasm al-Astal have called on the Americans to support and assist these groups in their fight against Hamas, while ensuring their security. In addition, they should cooperate with Israel in the areas under the control of the Israeli army in the field of security control, including the distribution of humanitarian aid.
According to Israel Hume, the goal of the United States in cooperating with these groups is to transform them into a kind of force for security control in the territories where they are present and perhaps beyond. They specified that the Abu Shabab and al-Astal groups should also be used in the humanitarian areas that are being built and developed in the south and north of the Gaza Strip under the control of the Israeli regime.
However, Israel Hume wrote that the US’s move to cooperate with these groups is due to the difficulty and impasse in the plan to establish an international stabilization force; an issue that was discussed during the meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Kushner, and Israel strongly opposed the presence of forces from some countries, including Turkey.
Israel Hume also stressed that the Kiryat Gat International Base is maintaining constant contact with the leaders of terrorist groups to use them to provide security control over the mechanism of the humanitarian bases recently established in the areas under the control of the Zionist regime, as well as the distribution of humanitarian aid to refugees in the south and north of the Gaza Strip.
