Gaza, where bread is the only wish of the people.

Gaza, where bread is the only wish of the people.

While the world is immersed in the hubbub of politics and power, the Gaza Strip is struggling in heavy silence for a morsel of bread. A long-term siege, endless war, and critical conditions have turned bread, this simple and basic need, into one of the greatest daily concerns of the people. Here, life is measured not by the clock, but by the queue at the bakery and the cries of hungry children.

Islam Times, in an interview with a resident of Gaza, examined the critical conditions of this region and the long-term effects of war and siege on people’s lives. In this interview, the resident of Gaza talks about his experience of the siege, hunger, and daily problems.

A resident of Gaza said about the very difficult and complicated situation in Gaza these days: Gaza has become a place where bread, even if it is just a piece for a day, has become a great dream for many of us. Here, life is more than war and bloodshed. The siege that has lasted for more than 18 months has made life more difficult for us than ever.

He added: “While the war and constant attacks continue to threaten lives, this heavy siege is also literally taking lives. Many Gazans, standing in long lines at bakeries, are just looking for a bite of bread that can preserve their human dignity.”

The Gazan noted: “Every day when we wake up, the little ones ask us: Do we have bread today? And every day I don’t know the answer with pain. Sometimes it is found, sometimes not. When we get a piece of bread, we consider it like a treasure and carefully divide it among family members.

In Gaza, every piece of bread is no longer a simple meal, but a symbol of survival and human dignity. In this situation, people have no other desire than to survive and defend their basic right to life.

He clarified: The people of Gaza today are no longer looking for luxuries. They only want their basic right: the right to life. But this situation is very painful, especially for children. They, who are constantly searching for food for themselves, think only of one simple wish: to have a meal of bread.

A resident of Gaza says in this regard: The children here ask me every day whether we will have bread today or not. Their looks penetrate my heart with the intensity of hunger and despair. They only want a piece of bread that will not only satisfy their bodies, but also give them a sense of humanity.

Finally, the resident of Gaza concludes his speech as follows: Gaza has become the world’s standard of humanity today. If you want to be human, you must listen to the voice of Gaza. We are here, resisting not only war, but also hunger and siege. If someone helps us, maybe we can live again.
