Meanwhile, the US embassy in Mexico issued a warning about a rally being held in front of its building and asked its staff to avoid the area.

These protests coincided with sharp criticism of European leaders for their silence in the face of the American attack.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, only spoke of a “peaceful and democratic transition” and did not condemn the abduction of Nicolas Maduro or the deaths of dozens in the American attacks.

The Prime Minister of Greece also refrained from commenting on the legality of these actions, while Athens witnessed anti-American demonstrations.

Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, announced that Washington intends to maintain the military pressure on Venezuela and did not rule out the possibility of deploying ground forces.

Stating that these pressures will continue, he claimed that they would bring about the changes desired by the United States and a “better” future for the people of Venezuela.
