Grenell’s Mystery: Who is Trump’s Possible Representative in Iran Affairs?

Grenell’s Mystery: Who is Trump’s Possible Representative in Iran Affairs?

As January 20th and the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States approaches, senior government officials around the world are seeking to identify influential individuals and key players in the future Trump administration. Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic of Iran is also trying to prevent the damage caused by Washington’s anti-Iranian policies as much as possible by fully understanding the new US foreign policy and security team. The nomination of Richard Grenell as the US special representative for Iran has raised many questions for statesmen, experts, and those interested in foreign policy. Grenell’s anti-Iranian and radical history towards the Islamic Republic of Iran has reduced the prospects of any negotiations or political understanding with Washington to a minimum.

Who is Richard Grenell?

Richard Grenell, 58, is a member of the Republican Party and a Harvard University graduate. His work history includes serving as the US special representative for the Serbia-Kosovo peace talks, US spokesman at the United Nations, Director of National Intelligence, and US Ambassador to Germany. During his tenure as US ambassador to Berlin, he, unlike previous ambassadors, attempted to establish contact with the “far right” faction in Germany, which was criticized as an unprofessional and marginalizing act.
