PNN – The leaders of the Group of Seven, welcoming the ceasefire agreement between the Zionist regime and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), emphasized that this agreement should be used as an opportunity to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and improve the disastrous conditions of the residents of this region.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the leaders of the Haft Group announced on Friday in a joint statement, a copy of which was published on the British government website: With the start of the ceasefire, it is imperative that this opportunity be used to end the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, which is worsening by the day.
The statement also called for providing massive humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza and facilitating safe and uninterrupted access to this aid. The leaders of the Group of Seven stressed that all parties must adhere to the full implementation of the ceasefire provisions and refrain from any actions that lead to its weakening.
A part of this statement states: More than a year of war and conflict has destroyed the infrastructure of Gaza and the lives of millions of people have faced serious challenges. Since the beginning of the Zionist regime’s attacks on October 7, 2023, Gaza has become the scene of a devastating war that has left thousands dead and wounded. According to official statistics, more than 46,000 Palestinians have been martyred in this war and hundreds of thousands more have been injured. Also, widespread displacement, famine and lack of access to medical services have put the people of Gaza in a critical situation.
In its recent reports, the United Nations has expressed concern over the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza and has called for immediate aid to the region. Gaza now has the largest community of children with disabilities, according to Lisa Duton, a senior UN official.
In their statement, the leaders of the Group of Seven emphasized the need for the Zionist regime to respect the provisions of the ceasefire and demanded to prevent any provocative actions. They asked the Israeli regime to fulfill its obligations to reopen the border crossings and facilitate the sending of humanitarian aid to Gaza. In a part of this statement, the leaders of the Group of Seven expressed their concern about Sadeq 3’s promise and by repeating the accusations about what they call Iran’s proxy groups in the region, requested that attacks against occupied Palestine be avoided.
The ceasefire agreement, reached on Wednesday night, includes the release of prisoners and the sending of humanitarian aid to Gaza. This agreement will be implemented in three stages, the first of which includes the cessation of conflicts and the return of refugees to their homes.
At the end of their statement, the leaders of the Group of Seven emphasized: In order to achieve sustainable peace, it is necessary to continue international efforts for the reconstruction of Gaza and the realization of a two-state solution. This is the only way to achieve security and stability in the region.
The group of seven includes the United States of America, England, Germany, France, Japan, Italy, Canada, and the European Union.
