Guterres about the Gaza war; I have never seen this level of death and destruction.
Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, emphasized in a conversation with the Associated Press that since he took office as the Secretary-General, he had never witnessed the level of death and destruction experienced in Gaza. Guterres stressed that the United Nations is prepared to support any ceasefire in Gaza. He also mentioned that the UN has had a military monitoring mission in the Middle East since 1948 and has proposed this issue previously. However, he expressed doubts about the UN being able to play a role in Gaza’s future, such as through land management or the deployment of peacekeepers, as Israel is unlikely to allow the UN to have a role.
